The first-ever OneYoga was an absolute success and I could not be more thrilled or proud to say I was apart of it. We had over 225 people participate in this first-year event.
I had the privilege of contacting many of the studios, participants, and media that were involved in OneYoga and helped to make the event a success. Helping to teach people about extreme poverty and the small things we can to do help end it (like practice yoga!) is something I am passionate about and I look forward to many successful events in the future.
As you may know, participants had the opportunity to vote for projects that they would like to support with the funds raised through the OneYoga event… and the results are in!
To date, OneYoga participants raised $15,750 towards projectson the ChristmasFuture website. As can be common in democracies, only a few participants voted. From the 11 votes we received and funds were allocated accordingly:
- Women’s Literacy, Comitancillo, Guatemala (CAUSE) to receive $4,295.46
- Post-Hurricane School Construction, Comitancillo, Guatemala (Change for Children) to receive $2,863.64
- Sierra Leone Women’s Literacy Program (CAUSE) to receive $1,431.82
- CORE International , Microcredit (Tidlund) to receive $2,863.62
- Pece Community Nursery School, Gulu Town, Uganda (Tidlund) to receive $1,431.82
- Mid-wife Training Course, Neelum District, Pakistan (HiMat) to receive $1,431.82
- ChristmasFuture Operations to receive $1,431.82
Thank you again to all of the participants and sponsors that donated to OneYoga and helped to support these projects. Thank you to those that took the time to vote to help direct the funds we raised as a community.
