According to UEnd and increasingly many authors, the everyday person can have a role in changing the world. It requires a few things to happen for you to realize your role.
The first is a choice. Do you want to help make the world a better place for the next generation? How about this one? It is your world, your choice.
Second, is looking at how you want to get involved. Of course not everyone can give 1 million dollars, but this is exactly my point. You have plenty to give whether it be monetary, time, awareness raising, leading by examples, or buying gifts (in UEnd’s case at least).
Third, become a bit more educated about the issues that matter to you. This might require following some blogs, reading books, taking a class, volunteering at a local organization. Talk to your friends and family about it. Get them to support you in your quest to get involved. Perhaps, you can even convert them to your new interests.
Fourth, review your life to see if there are simple ways that you can change how you do things that could be used to help in your quest to change the world. For instance, when you buy your morning cup of coffee, instead of the second one, put that money toward your project. At $2-6.00 a coffee it adds up.
Fifth, read a few books on how others have made a difference. A few that we like are as follows:
Give a Little
Getting involved
3 Cups of Tea
Women Empowered
I am sure there are many others. In fact we would love to hear about them on twitter @UEnd_org or here in comments.
Happy inspiring reading!
