One Yoga in the Park 2010 Post Event Update

Well it was a huge success this year. It is to you, all of you who participated that we say thank you for One Yoga in the Park would not have happened with out you.

To recap, we had 4 cities participate including Calgary with interest from two and hopefully more for next year. We fully funded one project in Calgary, the largest event with 251 people attending and raised just over 4900.00. It was held in Stanley Park and taught by three very generous Yoga Teachers whom deserve our hardiest thanks, Jeff Mah of Bodhi Tree, Kevin Elander of Yoga Mandala and Elmira Barry of Hot Yoga on 17. Our corporate sponsors too deserve a huge thanks, Good Earth at Sheldon Chumir Centre and Rare Indigo Consulting, Calgary Sound Rentals and One Love Wear. We have to thank Lululemon for spreading the word through the Yoga Community so effectively too. The funds went towards the Cause Canada Project Clean Hands Build Healthier Bodies. The overflow funds will go towards the Himat Small Business Opportunities Project. Photos can be found at our Flickr page credited to Tasha Komery.

In Vancouver, the thanks go to Yoga for the People who hosted their first event as a part of the One Yoga in the Park community. They had 30 people and raised $260.00. Their funds will be going towards this project Microfinance and Agriculture.

In Canmore and Banff we have to thank the Lululemon crew in Banff and the Nordic Centre for their assistance in planning this inaugural event. They had 43 people as well raising $456.00. These funds will be going towards Himat Indigenous Vocational Training for Women in Pakistan.

In Salmo BC as a part of the Shambala Music Festival a Karma yoga class was held each morning to start the day. They had over 350 people over the course of the 4 days attend the karma yoga session. They raised close to $458.16. There project can be found at this link Child Support Project.

We plan to expand to other cities next year. Our goal is to have satellite events all across Western Canada. The long term goal is to make One Yoga in the Park the biggest karma event in Canada.  If you are interested in getting involved next year, please send me an email to info@uend.org

With sincere thanks,
The UEnd.org Team
